For nearly 90 years, Jameson Camp has impacted the lives of young people through its award-winning camp experience, designed to help campers develop self-respect and confidence as well as respect for others and the world around them. Today, our mission is to enrich the lives of Indiana youth by inspiring them to discover their strengths.
Each year, approximately 75% of our campers reside in households below the poverty level and over half struggle with a social, emotional, or behavioral challenge. To keep camp affordable for these families, Jameson Camp offers programming fees on a sliding scale, based on household income. We also charge only minimal fees for our Outdoor Education and Youth Leadership activities. This means we rely on generous community partners, volunteers, and donors to support our programs. We are well-versed in stretching our dollars and utilizing volunteers so that we can provide the highest quality program possible. HOW IS JAMESON CAMP DIFFERENT?
- Year-round Programming:
We are more than just a Summer Camp, offering Youth Leadership, Outdoor Education, and Challenge Course programs all year long.
We serve all children and specialize in serving youth facing minor social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
Our sliding fee scale makes Camp and Youth Leadership affordable to all families. Our Outdoor Education programs are designed with school budgets in mind. And all of the proceeds from our Event Center rentals benefit the youth we serve.
We put an emphasis on measuring our outcomes and adjusting our programs accordingly.
Our programming is based on a nationally recognized set of practices that encourages children to recognize their inner strengths while also valuing and respecting others.
- Natural Setting, In the City:
We are an easily accessible destination for Indianapolis-area youth and adults, offering 130 acres of beautiful forests, meadows, and streams within the city limits.
- Developmental Assets:
Our programming focuses on eight of the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets, or the building blocks of successful youth development: Empowerment, Support, Time Use, Educational Commitment, Boundaries & Expectations, Positive Values, Positive Identity, and Social Competencies.
- Life Changing Programming:
