Programs

Founded in 1928, Jameson Camp makes a difference in the lives of hundreds of children each year through an array of programs that provide lifelong memories and lifetime skills. Based on the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets ® our programs strive to equip youth with the skills and experiences they will need to become successful young people. We believe that no matter what brings a child to Jameson Camp they all come with their own set of strengths; through our programs we work to help them discover, develop and build upon those strengths.

Each of our programs is packed full of fun activities to create a memorable experience for each child. Jameson's programs are developed to offer a progression of experiences that foster:

Responsibility - developing leadership skills and accountability for one's own behavior

Improved decision-making skills - thinking for one's self and making appropriate choices

Positive self-concept and increased self- esteem - recognizing and appreciating personal strengths, talents and values

Interpersonal skills and citizenship - making friends and respecting the rights of others

Environmental concern - appreciating one's natural surroundings

We believe we are unique in our combination of summer camp, year-round programming and the inclusion of program participants in daily program development. Our program's strength is in our year-round progressive work with children that can begin when they are as young as seven years old. This results in a positive, stable and valuable experience for many children well into their young adulthood. The values, skills and abilities they acquire are internalized and become part of their character.

Program goals and objectives are implemented through small discussion and living groups, arts and crafts, competitive and non-competitive sports and games, outdoor experiences, field trips, speakers, special programs, peer-facilitated activities and much more. Each child expects to be respected as a worthwhile individual. At Jameson, we provide them with a voice and the encouragement they need. And like all children, they expect to have some fun.
