Tataya Mato is a camp for kids ages 7-17 who are impacted by HIV/AIDS. We are a disclosure camp, so the kids should know that they are impacted prior to coming to camp. Campers arrive on Sunday for a 7 day/6 night camp, departing on Saturday. The structure of the week is similar to our traditional camp sessions and activities offered, with an additional day.
During Tataya Mato, greater emphasis is placed on Art Expressions, as a therapeutic way of expressing the struggles that come with living with HIV/AIDS. Campers also receive HIV/AIDS education and support groups, offered in partnership with the Social Health Association, Step-Up Inc., and Damien Center.
Who said eating healthy and getting fit can’t be fun?! At Wellness Camp, campers are immersed in a fun, active six day/five night program that focuses on healthy eating, exercise, and positive daily living choices. Wellness Camp is structured similarly to our other camps; however, we put a greater emphasis on preventative wellness and health education. Campers leave with knowledge on how to make every day healthy choices!
Campers will also:
Increase knowledge around healthy lifestyle related topics
Participate in experiential learning opportunities
Our final session of camp focuses on our campers ages 7 to 10! The session of camp is 5 days/4 nights. Click here to see this year’s JC Juniors dates.
This session is immersive for ALL campers, as our camp counselors are assisted by Counselors-In-Training (CIT). CITs are in a year-round program that works to build their skills in leadership, and they prepare for camp by shadowing and interacting with the program all summer! Everyone has the opportunity to learn and grown from each other during JC Juniors. This session is a wonderful opportunity for first time campers to try overnight camp, and we hope to see you there!
