Youth Leadership
Jameson Camp’s Youth Leadership program serves teens ages 13 – 18. Selection into the program is based on commitment to participate, parental support, dedication to Jameson’s mission, maturity, and potential for learning leadership skills.
Teens learn leadership skills such as effective communication, planning, teamwork, leading a group activity, leading younger children and the value of community service. Throughout their time in the program, each teen has the opportunity to complete over 200 service hours. Throughout the year, Youth Leaders participate in 'Follow Up' events which include weekend retreats, an Alternative Spring Break Trip, College Visits, and small planning groups. Service and Leadership components are a part of all of our Youth Leadership programs. During the summer, teens are immersed in learning leadership skills that culminate in taking a leadership role with the JC junior camp session for our youngest campers.

2012 Youth Leadership Program Descriptions
Advanced Camping Experience (A.C.E.)
The A.C.E. program offers returning campers (ages 13 - 16) the opportunity to develop and use advanced camping skills, improve teamwork, strengthen decision-making skills and begin to explore what it means to be a leader. Experiential learning is the method used to teach these life skills.
A.C.E. campers assist staff with leading and teaching younger campers. The teens participate in multiple high adventure camping and wilderness opportunities such canoeing trips, in-state camping, or backpacking trips.
Counselors-In-Training (CIT)
After completing the A.C.E. program, youth ages 15 – 18 apply to the C.I.T. program to learn advanced leadership and programming methods. C.I.T.s work with counselors to strengthen these skills.
During their summer, C.I.T.s plan JC Juniors which is our camp session for our youngest children (ages 7 – 9). They plan activities, lead skill-building session and actually serve as counselors under the guidance and supervision of our staff. C.I.T.s also engage in community service projects, college visits and camp improvement projects.
